Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol is not a controlled substance. It must be taken exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day, to maintain effectiveness. Women over 35 who smoke should not use Vienva due to increased cardiovascular risks, including blood clots, heart attack, or stroke. Backup contraception may be needed if doses are missed or vomiting occurs.
