EstroGel (estradiol gel) 0.06% is a prescription topical hormone therapy used to treat moderate to severe hot flashes and moderate to severe vaginal and vulvar atrophy caused by menopause. Important safety information

Boxed Warning: Estrogens increase the risk of endometrial cancer in women with a uterus who use estrogen without a progestin. Estrogen, with or without a progestin, should not be used to prevent heart disease, stroke, or dementia; the Women's Health Initiative studies reported increased risks of stroke, deep vein thrombosis, and (for estrogen plus progestin) heart attack, invasive breast cancer, and probable dementia in women 65 and older. Do not use EstroGel if you have undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, current or past breast cancer, an estrogen-dependent tumor, a current or past blood clot, a stroke or heart attack history, liver disease, or a known clotting disorder. Talk to your provider before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have gallbladder disease, high triglycerides, thyroid problems, migraines, epilepsy, asthma, or diabetes.

How EstroGel Works

EstroGel delivers estradiol, a form of estrogen, through the skin and into the bloodstream. It works by supplementing the estrogen levels that decline during menopause, which helps reduce hot flashes and restore vaginal tissue health. Because it's absorbed through the skin, it bypasses first-pass liver metabolism.

Dosage & Administration

Apply one pump depression (1.25 g of gel, containing 0.75 mg estradiol) once daily to clean, dry skin on the arm, from wrist to shoulder. Let the gel dry for 2-5 minutes before dressing. Prime the pump with 5 depressions before the first use. Avoid washing the application area or applying lotion/sunscreen there for at least 1 hour after application, as this can change how much estradiol is absorbed.
