Eucrisa (crisaborole) 2% ointment is a non-steroidal topical medication used to treat mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults and children 3 months of age and older. It works by inhibiting phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4), an enzyme involved in the inflammatory response that drives eczema flares, helping to reduce redness, itching, and skin inflammation. Apply a thin layer of Eucrisa to affected areas of skin twice daily. It can be used on sensitive areas such as the face, neck, and skin folds, and is not limited to a specific body-surface-area percentage the way some topical steroids are. Wash hands after application unless the hands are being treated. The most common side effect is application-site pain, often described as burning or stinging, which is usually mild and temporary. Eucrisa does not carry the skin-thinning (atrophy) risk associated with long-term topical corticosteroid use, making it a useful option for areas of thin skin or for longer-term maintenance therapy. Tell your prescriber if you have a hypersensitivity reaction (hives, swelling, or difficulty breathing) or if your skin does not improve after 4 weeks of use.

Apply a thin layer of Eucrisa ointment to the affected areas of skin twice daily. It can be used on delicate skin, including the face, neck, and skin folds. Wash your hands after applying unless your hands are being treated.
Common side effect: Application-site pain (a burning or stinging sensation) is the most frequently reported side effect. It is usually mild and temporary, and tends to improve with continued use.
What makes Eucrisa different: Unlike topical corticosteroids, Eucrisa is not a steroid and does not carry a risk of skin thinning (atrophy) with long-term use, which makes it a reasonable option for sensitive areas or longer-term maintenance treatment.
